Half Dome Cables Lottery
A permit is required seven days a week when the cables are up. Day-hiker permits are issued by a March preseason lottery (results mid-April) plus a daily lottery two days before the hike (midnight–4 p.m. Pacific). About 225 day-hiker permits per day in the preseason lottery; backpackers request Half Dome with a wilderness permit instead.
